Sessions

For details on when and where these sessions happen, please contact us directly info@ywmp.org.uk.

YWMP Hangouts – 14-25

We meet weekly to share music with each other, discuss artists we love and their stories, write and play music together, learn and share music skills, playlist together, have guests, eat and hold space for each other.

Team Drum – 18+

Open to total beginners, we create and learn drum beats for carnivals, parades and protests. These beats are inspired by songs we love. Team Drum has played at Oxford, Gloucester and Margate Pride, Cowley Road Carnival, BLM Protests, Free Palestine Protests, Acorn Housing Protests, and as part of Zahra Haji Fath Ali Tehrani’s For You tour.

121’s –14-25

Some participants prefer to attend 121 sessions to hone in on skills with one of our educators, this could be to have some more dedicated time on the decks, an instrument lesson or time in the studio recording a new song.

Courses 14+

So far we have hosted 6-week courses with experts in songwriting, DJing, music production, sound engineering, and remixing. These courses take a level of commitment and information about them will be shared on social media and via our mailing list.

Outreach – 14+

We regularly run outreach sessions in different settings to engage groups that may be unaware of our service or face barriers accessing us. In recent years we have worked in pupil referral units, youth clubs and community colleges to transition groups to our regular sessions over a period of 6 weeks.

Mentoring – 14+

Once you’ve hit a critical point in your musical or personal journey there comes a time when some mentoring comes in handy, to figure out what could be next for you, working on what training or support you can gain from your community and expand networks. We aim to pair you with someone who matches your current needs.
