Safer Spaces

YWMP is running a 2-year project funded by Youth Music that will create a policy with procedures on how to make grassroots live music venues safer and more accessible for all demographics, particularly marginalised people.

With partners across the UK, YWMP has run a Safer Spaces Exchange. Each event explored the challenges, barriers, and attitudes towards safer spaces in live music venues.

Safer Spaces Tour Year 2:

Last year we toured these 5 cities with panels and talks to discuss what barriers grassroots live music venues/promoters/musicians/gig goers were facing.

For the past 18 months we have been developing our policy with a list of guidelines and procedures to disrupt the status quo of gig going culture which to us means setting the bar higher for everyone.

This is our first attempt at trialling the policy. Training is being provided for all the lead organisation, deescalation and safeguarding training has been provided to our steering committee and we will be at each of these shows introducing what we have been working on behind the scenes, so do come along and ask us questions and find out more about what our vision is and how we can work together to make big changes in the future.
