The Nest

The Nest

YWMP is introducing The Nest: Oxford’s first independent, inclusive music space centring young women, trans and non-binary people. The Nest will be a safe, inclusive hub for people to make music, grow and connect.

Safer Spaces policy

For the past 2 years, YWMP has been running the Safer Spaces project. This project has been spearheaded by the Safer Spaces Steering Committee, which has been working on the development of a policy with procedures on how to make grassroots live music venues safer and more accessible for all demographics, particularly marginalised people. Find out more here!

The policy will be at the heart of The Nest. Every event will be run using the Safer Spaces policy as a framework, with the support of the committee. It will also be an opportunity for us to trial the policy, make any necessary adjustments in real time and strengthen our procedures.

Book The Nest

We are a charity, and our main aim as an organisation is to create safer spaces for people. To do this work, we need to be income-generating. That’s why we’re pleased to be able to hire out our space.

You can hire The Nest for gigs and community events, as well as workshops, meetings and trainings.

If you are concerned about the cost of hiring our space, please reach out. We are always willing to have discussions with groups or individuals who need financial support. While we cannot offer our space completely free of charge, we are happy to chat about trading time, we’re sure we can find a way!

We believe that the more established and resource-rich promoters and organisations will have to pay more than those who are still getting started. This will be assessed by our team when you submit a booking request form.

Included:

  • Sound engineer - trained by us

  • Safer spaces policy - developed and delivered by us

  • Bar
