Tara Clerkin Trio are joined by Oslged at the Nest on Weds 28th Oct!

Not loads of tickets left here so don’t miss out on this special show - Tara Clerkin Trio astonished us a few years ago in Oxford with their intricate intricate mix of dub, jazz and delicate ambient beauty!

Their latest LP ‘Somewhere Good’ has been on constant spin since it came out in June - the hazy, unmappable skyline-mirage of droning harmonium, upright bass, peculiarly accentuated wind instruments, acoustic guitar, hushed yet literally mighty keys combine to hypnotizing effect. The band may make underlying nods to jazz, sure, but it’s not appropriation, it’s that they have the actual chops to build it out. Beneath the janky samples and oddball percussive embellishment lies actually great drumming. Beyond the manipulated vocal witchery and woefully reflective plain-spoke moments are Tara’s subtly inspired melodies, sung with what might honestly be the glue to the whole crazy equation. A calming consistency throughout the otherwise unpredictably dynamic, boldly intuitive, uniquely British exploration of this (their own) universe in song.

Stoked to welcome Welsh experimental folk adventurer Osgled to Oxford for the first time - we met Bethan 2024 when we played a show together in Machynlleth with Cerys Hafana and we’ve been enchanted ever since. Self-penned ‘etheral bassy synthy reverby’ with a beautifully inventive human touch, we can’t wait to see Osgled again! Her new EP ‘Traed Moch’ comes out in early October via the most excellent Welsh label bwgibwgan!
